KIPP HAMILTON

Kipp opened Maru Salon in 2004 with the idea that it would be a place where creativity is encouraged, high standards are always maintained, and the staff and clientele are supported to be their most successful and best selves. With over 20 years in the industry as a professional, business owner and educator, Kipp is an expert colorist and stylist. His passion and genuine love of people have been the drivers to the continued growth and success of Maru Salon.

MARK CHIN

Mark graduated from Paul Mitchell Academy and joined Maru Salon in 2013. He has completed additional studies with Oribe, Redken, Kevin Murphy and The Business of Balayage. Mark commands a remarkable skill for balayage, color and cut and has brought an exciting creative talent to the team at Maru Salon. His ability to connect with and build on each client’s personal style is what defines Mark’s work. He specializes in all hair types and textures and is extremely talented with Asian hair.

BROOKLYN SPIEGEL

Brooklyn began her career as a hair stylist in San Diego before moving to the Bay Area and joining the Maru team. She loves cutting and specializes in blonding and balayage and has a talent for corrective color. Brooklyn uses her extensive knowledge of color from continued education to create one of a kind formulas for each unique canvas of hair. Brooklyn excels at working with all hair types and textures. She creates a safe space for each client to comfortably discuss their personal hair goals through consultations and good communication. She loves to laugh, build relationships and have fun with her clients!

REBEKA WALTERS

Rebeka was born and raised in Berkeley, California. At 20 years old she moved to Los Angeles where she studied at top cosmetology school Vidal Sassoon. After graduating, she was fortunate enough to learn from some of Hollywood's top hairstylists. Rebeka has worked for high profile clients such as Korean Pop Star CL and Selena Gomez to name a few. Her work has been featured on the cover of InStyle Korea as well as worked on many music videos. She is most passionate about hair color, specializing in color corrections, bleach and tones and balayage. After 15 years in Los Angeles she is back in Berkeley and is determined to help you achieve all of your hair color dreams.

ANDREA CAMPBELL

Andrea was born and raised in Seattle proper. She is bilingual in English and Spanish, growing up around a very diverse family. She traveled to London with Gary Manuel Aveda Institute and took classes at the UK Academy, as well as being part of editorial and participating in hair and fashion shows outside of regular curriculum. As a little girl, Andrea loved going to the salon with her mother, who was a full time college student, and says “it always felt magical". Even then, hairstylists looked like rock stars and she would play barbie dolls for hours as an only child. Andrea is particularly passionate about curly hair, thick texture, balayage and fashion colors. She loves a "hair project" that makes someone look completely different, or better yet, bringing something to life they had all along. She hopes to one day be a hair educator, to always be around creative people, valuing the endless opportunities of the hair industry.

SHAWN CONNEARNEY

Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Shawn comes to us with twenty years experience working at the top salons of San Francisco’s Union Square. Having apprenticed at Mr. Pinkwhistle in SF, Shawn has also received extensive training from Aveda, Goldwell, Bumbleandbumble and Vidal Sassoon in Los Angeles. He attentively listens to each client and takes into account their hair texture, bone structure and lifestyle to ensure their needs are met. His aesthetic is classic and he enjoys creating sleek, timeless looks for the wash and go client as well as someone looking for something sophisticated, contemporary and modern. He draws inspiration from the flappers of the 20's and the mod styles of the 60's icons.

TRAVIS ARAIZA

A bay area native, Travis began his career at 18 having completed cosmetology school & high school simultaneously. He's continued to expand his understanding of hair science and techniques over the past 13 years by receiving education through the Sassoon Academy, Oribe, Kérastase, Wella, Goldwell, v76, Federico Beauty Institute, Yosh, Sam Han, Redken, & more. After nearly a decade of working with a diverse clientele in San Francisco's Union Square, he's excited to be back in the East Bay.

Travis specializes in creating bright beautiful blondes, natural sun-kissed looks, surreal jewel toned color, and has an affinity for transformative color corrections. He is particularly skillful with Asian hair as well as blowouts, helping people who have difficulty with frizzy textures. Whether you're seeking a classic shape with clean lines or a shattered, highly textured razor cut, your hair texture and styling routine will be taken into account, to get you a result you'll love every day. When you're in his chair, a top priority is preserving & improving the health of your hair, leaving you with a long-lasting look that is beautiful from all angles. He loves troubleshooting haircare and styling issues, giving clients the information they need to be able to love their hair every day.

IRINA ANDRUSHENKO

Irina is an experienced hair colorist professional from Ukraine. She is passionate and loves to create beautiful looks with balayage, total blonding, highlights, airtouch and creative coloring. She is constantly striving to improve her skills by attending master classes and learning advanced coloring methods. She also loves classic haircuts that perfectly complement the chosen color styles. Her goal is to provide top quality services so that you feel confident and look amazing!

NINA SNELL

A Bay Area native with over 10 years of experience, Nina specializes in balayage, highlights and blonding. Shes is also an excellent haircutter with both short and long styles. She started her career in San Francisco, completing a two-year apprenticeship program before becoming a senior stylist just two years later. A true artist at heart, Nina is Aveda-trained and has taught at the Cinta Aveda Institute, as well as her own balayage classes. Nina's passion for hair goes beyond the chair. She loves educating herself and constantly takes classes to perfect her craft. Known for her fun, laid-back approach, Nina listens to her clients and delivers personalized, stunning results every time. When you're in Nina's chair, you're not just getting a service, but an experience tailored to you.

JACELYN BAUTISTA

"When I make my clients smile, that is real success”. Jacelyn is a born and raised San Francisco Bay Area native. She has been in the industry for 7 years and trained with AVEDA and Vidal Sassoon. She specializes in precision cutting, short textured styles, curly hair and effortless styles. Having worked in San Francisco throughout her career, she most recently spent 3 years in New York City where she received advanced core cutting with master Japanese cutting specialists. In New York, she had the unique opportunity to work on set with The View's Whoopi Goldberg and cast members. She is now back in The Bay Area doing what she loves, building relationships and creating amazing hair.

Cancellation Policy: To cancel please call 510-549-3610 or email us at info@marusalon.com by 6:00 PM the night before your reservation date to avoid the 50% cancellation fee.

Blow outs are complimentary with a color service.

Children are welcome by appointment only. Our time together is about you. Please respect others.
